Page 1
Steven Green is 14 years old. He lives in Fishbourne, a historical town in the south of England. He likes Fishbourne, but his friends say, "Fishbourne is too quiet."
Steven lives near his grandparents. They live in an old house. Steven goes there a lot. He likes his grandparents attic. There are lot of old boxes and suitcases there. There are interesting objects from the past inside the boxes and there's a lot of dust, too! Steven likes opening the boxes and seeing the things inside.

Steven's grandpa is 83 years old. He was a soldier in the Second World War. Grandpa has got many interesting things from the war, and old toys and games. They're all in the boxes in the attic. Steven likes history. He loves all these things from the past.
One afternoon, Steven is sitting on the floor in his grandparents attic .He's looking at old photographs of his grandparents weeding. Suddenly, Steven hears loud voices from the Kitchen.
Why are Grandma and Grandpa shouting? thinks Steven. He's confused. They never shout. They are always happy.
Steven sits at the top of the stairs. He's very quiet. He wants to hear what they're saying.

Our house is very old, says Grandpa. The roof has got a hole. The doors and windows don't close well and the walls need paint. The repairs will cost a lot of money.

GRANDPA:We must sell this house.
GRANDMA:But I love this house. I don't want to leave it!

We must find the money to repair the house, says Grandma, in a sad voice.
It's impossible, says Grandpa. We haven't got the money. What can we do?
My parents lived in this house and I was born here, says Grandma. It's very important to me. We must find the money.
Steven is worried and sad. How can I help them? he thinks.

STEVEN: Look, Grandpa. Did you draw this map?

Yes, says Grandpa. I buried some coins in the forest when I was a boy. Then I drew a map of the palace. That's fantastic, Grandpa, said Steven. We can find the coins and sell them.
But I can't remember the palace now, says Grandpa. The forest is different. The map can't help you. I don't understand it.
Don't worry, Grandpa, says Steven. I'll find the coins.

When Ben and Steven have got a problem, they go there. There's a river next to the forest and sometimes Ben and Steven go fishing in it.
