NOTTING HILL CARNIVAL

Notting Hill is a neigbourhood in London. Most of year, Notting Hill is an ordinary place. People live and work here. They live in houses and flats. They go to shops-clothes shops, bookshops and supermarkets. They go to schools, banks, the post office and the tube station, too. The streets are busy with cars, buses and taxis. Trains run under the city. This is Notting Hill for 363 days of the year.

TZAVO NATIONAL PARK

What a way to wake up! You sit up in bed, look out of your window and see the legs of a giraffe. You look up and, yes, the rest of the giraffe is there too. Then you see something black and white. It's a zaebra? Is this a dream? No! This is Tzavo National Park, a big nature reserve in Kenya, Africa.
Climb into the jeep! Let's go on a safari trek! Isn't it exciting? But be careful with your hat and bag. The monkeys love to take things! Do you see the lion under that tree? Quick, get your camera and take a photograph. I hope the lion isn't hungry...

2 Here we are on the monster ride, NEMESIS. We're going so fast. Don't eat lunch before this ride!!

3 This is the magnificent ICE SHOW. Each skater in the Ice Show skates almost 2,000 km each year!! Impresionat!

4 Mum, Dad and I are watchig the FIREWORK AND LASER SPECTACULAR. They've got their fingers in their ears, but I'm having fun!

5 Cheryl is walking in the beautiful park. She's looking at the CHINESE TEMPLE and the TOWERS. I think the Towers are 1,000 years old.

KOOLBURRA CASTLE STATION
Outback News the weekly interview
-How big is Koolburra, George?
It's 1,600 squuare kilometres and we've got about 2,500 cows.
-Wow, that's gigantic!
It isn't so big for an Australian station. Don't forget Australia is about seven and half million square kilometres.
-How can you take care of the station? It's so big. You can't drive 1,600 km a day!
You're right we can't. That's why we use helicopters or small planes. Look uo there- that's one of Koolburra's planes. Can you see it? The two men in the plane are cheking on our cows and fences. The pilot talks a lot on his radio and tells the cowboys below where to go. Then we drive there fast.
-Drive? Don't cowboys ride horses any more?
Of course we do. That's why I'm wearing my riding boots and a hat. With a horse you can ride quickly to places you can't always reach in a jeep.
-Can visitors work at casttle stations? Oh, yes! You must try it. It's great to be outside in the fresh air, but you mustn't think it's easy being a cowboy. It's very hard work.

Welcome to MARS 2112- an extraordinary restaurant in New York. At Mars 2112, you can find science fiction, fun, fantasy and food. You're space (well, almost)! There are aliens walking around and every 15 minutes there is a laser light show. Watch the stars ou of the window while a Martian waiter serves your food! After your meal, you can play some video games. Is there anything ordinary in Mars 2112? No! Everything is extra-ordinary and extra-terrestial. There aren't any ordinary things here at all.

COSMETON MEDIEVAL VILLAGE
History of Cosmeston
12th century- The Costentin family builds a village at Cosmeston.
13th century- There is a war between Wales Death kills many villagers.
16th century- Very few people live in Cosmeston and the village disappears.
20th century- Archaeologists build Cosmeston again.
Visit Cosmeston Medieval Village in Glamorgan, Wales. Here, the tour guides wear 14th century costumes and speak `Olde English´. See how life was 650 years ago.
In 1350, the houses in Cosmeston village were very small. The village people were very poor and there wasn't much furniture in their houses. There was only a table and a few chairs. The beds were on the floor.

In every village there was a bakery. The baker was at the bakery every day from early in the morning to late at night. There was lots of bread for the village people to eat.
IN medieval villages there were big manor houses. The manor house in Cosmeston was a grand building with beautiful furniture. The rich lord and his family were very comfortable there. There were pictures on the walls and books on the shelves. There were big beds in the bedrooms and cupboards full of clothes. The manor house in Cosmeston was beautiful on the 14th century...but today it is gone!
